New Arizona State Football Coach Kenny Dillingham Rants Infront Of The Media

Earlier this week, Arizona State football coach Kenny Dillingham went on a rampage about winning.

Some individuals have quite varied reactions to the ASU first-year coach’s diatribe on social media, with some praising it and others believing it was just too much.

With the Sun Devils at 1-2 and a game against #5 USC looming on Saturday night, ASU’s head coach needed to get everyone pumped up. He certainly did not disappoint.

“If you don’t expect to win every game, you got a problem. I don’t care if I’m playing Michael Jordan in basketball. I’m not playing to lose! Why would I play otherwise? I’m not just gonna play because it’s fun. No! What’s fun is competing to win. So, you’re playing to win! That’s it! And if you don’t, whatever happens after the game, it doesn’t matter,” the ASU coach told the media during an incredibly passionate rant Wednesday.

“You then watch the tape, and you get better, and you grow, and you get better and grow and get better. And eventually, right? Saturday nights are gonna feel better. But if you don’t take the field and you expect to win the football game, something’s wrong. You should expect to win. Otherwise, you shouldn’t be on the field.”

Dillingham, 33, is the FBS’s youngest head coach. After Edwards was dismissed three games into the season last year, Arizona State hired him. Last season, the Sun Devils were 3-9, their lowest result since 1994.

Will this diatribe be enough to energize the Sun Devils for their game against USC? As +34.5 underdogs, Kenny Dillingham and his team will need all the aid they can get. It could be appropriate to ask God for whatever favours they may have. At the very least, supporters got a really entertaining diatribe. That will never be taken away, regardless of what happens on the scoreboard on Saturday night.

Arizona State hopes for better outcomes under Dillingham, but the Sun Devils are 1-2 and coming off a humiliating 29-0 defeat to Fresno State. Dillingham is unlikely to want to be compared to Edwards, but the outburst sounded all too familiar.
